Happy Happy New Year 2009

Hello Fans and devoted followers
Well another year has launched itself upon us and I'm still catching my breath from 2008. I'm well and truly on the road to financial freedom (at least from my husband anyway) the next few weeks see me completing my 5 weeks prac, my girl's starting year 2, glenn and I celebrating 7 years of wedded bliss...(cough cough not sure about the bliss... I'll get back to you about that one) and my graduation from university!!!!! all before the end of March
Hip Hip Frickin' Hooray
I'm also starting classes back up at Scrapbook Shenanigans for the new year. I'm looking forward to being busy again after all the peace and quiet of a non university student. Anyway I'm off to have a little creative play and hopefully keep my eyes open for a few hours of messy fun on my own in a nice quiet house with three cherubs snoring their little heads off. I've also included a picture of my BB Art Journal Page for January which I signed up for this year. Each month we have a theme/technique to help motivate us and we upload our entry each month. Fingers crossed I can do the challenge each month ...

WICKED WIKI WIZARD!!

Good Morning
I'm going to say very loud and very proud I've made a WIKI on wikispaces! You can follow the link here:

When you go to my wiki site you will find two films. One film discusses teachers that are reluctant at using ICT in classrooms and the other film shows the power of ICT in classroom's and the effect it has on both students and teachers. I like to include both sides of the issue so we can step back and make an informed decision about where you will sit with regards to ICT in classrooms. Feel free to leave a comment on what your thoughts are about this ongoing debate

Happy Techno Journey's to you
Kim xxx

Here's some more food for thought about technology in the classroom. Enjoy and Bonjour!

I BELIEF THAT... LOVE IS THE ANSWER!

Well what an eventful but non-productive day for me. I'm very grateful to have Futures sorted and out of the way now so all my energy and time will be focused on my Technology assignment which is due in 10 days!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh where does time go??? So anyway I thought I would add my belief statement to shed some light on things.

Kim Chapman's Belief Statement:
"I believe that all students have the right to an education and learning experiences that empower, engage and challenge them. As a future educator it is my passion to integrate and implement rich ICT practices into students everyday experiences. Through the use of ICT's, I will cater to students' individual learning needs and abilities with hands on, real life experiences. As a professional and a life-long learner, I will endeavour to reflect, and improve my knowledge, skills and practices of ICT's continuously. I will model safe, legal and ethical ICT practices at all times to all students and fellow professionals. I am aware of the value and purpose of using ICT's in classrooms and the rapid changes taking place within our society, as a teacher it is my responsibility to stay in-touch with these shifts and implement them effectively and efficiently into the classroom".

iMovie not so friendly

Hi all
Well the last few days have read like something out of a drama novel. Technology has not been on my side at all! I have had the pleasure of a crash course in video editing software (iMovie HD to be specific and this was not a pretty sight at 2:30am in the morning for 3 days in row. There have been tears, tantrums, yelling, screaming, slamming, kicking, cursing and general frustration and that was just the computer... think of how I felt (that was my attempt at some humour to lighten my mood). Thankfully the issues were resolved with lots of meditative breathing and plenty of Robert Timms Coffee. My one piece of advice is to ask someone for help if you don't understand something, your not doing anyone any favours by pretending you know what your doing!  Now the picture I put in because it makes me smile and remember how lucky I am to have these beautiful children in my life, greeting me each day with a cuddle and smile.

Thinking outside the square

Yes it is 1:12am Sunday morning and I'm still sitting here at my computer like a zombie trying be a proactive learner. I will be modest and say that I'm very proud of my technology education advancements over the last few days! I now have a blog, I can edit my blog page and I just taught myself to load YouTube video's onto my blog! Great Effort... even if I do say so myself. Anyway back to the YouTube video's I've posted two below because they really jumped out and slapped me on the face with some home truth's about our future and that of our future students. I can hear you saying that the video's are American but when you stop and think about this for a moment we are not far behind America in a lot of things e.g. McDonald's, Childhood & Adult Obesity, people suing other people because they fell over a hose in their yard... I won't keep going with that, 'cause I think you've got the general idea. Have a look at the video's and leave me comment about what your thoughts are on technology, education and future generations.

Bonjour, G'day, Welcome, Hello

I would like to welcome you to my very first blog posting! I'm extremely excited about this form of technology and the opportunity to learn more about other technologies. I would like to leave you today with this quote...

"My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before or I can be lost in the maze. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny"  Elaine Maxwell
